This explains what personal information Sisters In Purity collects through this website, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. In short: we collect only what we need to welcome you and keep you in the loop, and we never sell it.
Who we are
Sisters In Purity (S.I.P) is a Christian youth community based in Nairobi, Kenya. We decide how the personal information collected on this website is used, and we're responsible for looking after it. You can reach us at sistersinpurity@gmail.com or +254 734 411 488.
What we collect and why
When you join (Join form): your name, phone number, email address, what you do (for example your school, job or the work you're looking for), and how you heard about us. We also record when you agreed to be contacted, and email you to confirm your request arrived. We use this to welcome you, keep you informed about sessions and events, and look after our community. Your phone number is how we tell members apart, so each number can only be registered once.
When you send a message (Contact form): your name, email, subject and message. It comes to our inbox so we can reply, and we email you a copy to confirm it arrived. It isn't added to our members list.
When you sign up for session reminders: your email address, the sessions you chose, and whether you've confirmed. We use it only to send you the reminders you asked for.
Your Bible reading plan: the days you tick off are saved only in your own browser on your own device. We never receive them. The plan's settings are part of its link, so anyone you share the link with can see the plan, but not your progress.
Keeping forms safe from abuse: we use automatic checks to stop spam and repeated submissions. These don't identify you and are deleted within a day.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information or share it for advertising. Only the S.I.P team can see member details.
To run the website, send emails and store information safely, we use a small number of trusted service providers. They only handle your information on our behalf, to provide that service, and must keep it secure. Some of them may store information outside Kenya; we only use providers that protect personal data as Kenya's Data Protection Act requires.
Our online sessions take place on a third-party video meeting service, and donations are handled by the payment providers shown on our Donate page. Each has its own privacy terms. We never see your card details or mobile money PIN.
How long we keep it
- Member details: while you're part of S.I.P, and deleted when you ask us to remove them.
- Reminder sign-ups: until you unsubscribe (every reminder email has a one-click link).
- Contact messages: in our inbox for as long as we need them to help you.
- Information from our anti-spam checks: deleted within a day.
Young people under 18
Young people under 18 are welcome to join S.I.P with a parent's or guardian's agreement, which they confirm when they send the Join form. We may contact a parent or guardian to say hello and answer any questions. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete their child's information.
Photos
Our gallery shares photos from fellowships and outreach visits. If you appear in a photo and would like it removed, or you're a parent or guardian asking for your child's photo to be removed, contact us and we'll take it down.
Your rights
Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your information;
- stop contacting you.
Email sistersinpurity@gmail.com and we'll respond as soon as we can. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Kenya.
How we protect it
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe. Only authorised S.I.P team members can see member details, and the website uses a secure, encrypted connection.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
